Hello! My name is Benazir and I work with children (ages 5+), adolescents, young adults, parents, and schools. I specialize in helping young people affected by trauma, grief and loss, separation/ divorce, complex behavioural concerns, emotional dysregulation, racism and discrimination, ADHD, depression, and anxiety.
In counselling, I practice from a systemic and trauma-informed lens which means that I do not only focus on what a person’s behaviour is but on the why. This means I try and understand what are the reasons for the behaviour, what relief does the behaviour provide currently, and what is happening or has happened in the child’s world? Depending on the individual needs of the client, I utilize play and art interventions along with narrative approaches. I am trained and experienced in suicide intervention and prevention, and non-suicidal self-injury.
